25 Feb How to Draw LUMIER (Tangle Step by Step)
If you enjoy radial floral Zentangle patterns, LUMIER is a beautiful tangle to explore 😊 This original pattern uses petal shapes that are perfect for meditative drawings. Here’s the step-by-step tutorial:

LUMIER is a radial, floral tangle built from simple petals arranged in concentric circles. Each ring grows from the center like a blooming flower, but with a twist: each of them is spinning in its own direction, almost like a tiny windmill.
These alternating rotations make this tangle feel alive, and while it’s approachable for beginners it still offers plenty of room for variations. Lumier works specially well for meditative mandala drawings.

The inspiration behind my tangle LUMIER
The idea for LUMIER came from a well-known moment in the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, during the musical number “Be our guest”. At one point, different objects appear dancing in circles, rotating in different directions.

There was something hypnotizing and playful about that coordinated motion, so much that I used it as inspiration for my tangle Lumier.
How to draw a Zentangle tile using LUMIER:

Once you understand the basic structure of Lumier you can start experimenting with variations, spacing and layers to create interesting Zentangle compositions. The tile above is an example of that, combining different petal sizes and rhythms to create movement.
