11 Mar How to Draw CRICRI (Tangle Step by Step)
Learn how to draw CRICRI, one of my original Zentangle patterns inspired by cross-stitching! This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to build a flexible grid tangle full of possibilities:

CRICRI is a versatile Zentangle pattern built from a simple foundation: a grid of circles. Unlike rigid geometric grids, Cricri is more flexible because the circles don’t have to be evenly spaced. They’re linked together through curved connections, which give the tangle a fluid organic vibe.
One of Cricri‘s strenghts is the balance it creates between structure and freedom. The repeating circular grid provides a calming rhythm, while the connections allow for more intuitive decisions.

The inspiration behind my tangle CRICRI
Cricri was inspired by cross-stitch, one of my newly found creative hobbies for relaxation. Cross-stitch has a unique visual language: grids, intersections and repetition that creates a larger image.

I knew I wanted to translate that textile appearance into a Zentangle pattern. I softened and reinterpreted the geometry a little bit, and that’s how Cricri came to life.
How to draw this Zentangle tile step by step:

If you’d like to explore this tangle more deeply, I’ve created a detailed PDF tutorial showing you how to draw a complete Zentangle tile using Cricri and several creative variations.
Inside the PDF, you’ll discover how you can change Cricri‘s structure to create a more irregular and visually interesting tangle. I’ll explain how I make the transition from the more contained, regular version to the “crazy” one.
